I'm building a new machine and everything is working correctly, except that I can't log on to my VPN. It hangs at the "Verifying username and password" step, then returns after about 30 seconds
Oct 02, 2012 · I went to use it 3 days ago and it hangs on "Verifying Username and Password". I have always had it set to PPTP and I tried checking and unchecking "Use default gateway on remote network." I have checked the same VPN access on several virtual machines XP and Win 7 (on the same Win 7 Ultimate laptop) and neither worked. In this section, we are using a Windows 10 machine as the PPTP client. 1. Add a new VPN connection. Settings > Network & Internet > VPN > Add a VPN connection. While using Cisco SDM, I researched the rules of the firewall and figured out to allow PPTP traffic. However, GRE can't be found. The password is the one that you've created when you first made an order (if you haven't changed it since then). 1. Access StrongVPN website from your favorite browser and navigate to ACCOUNT tab. 2. Can't connect to Always On VPN. The connection was prevented because of a policy configured on your RAS/VPN server. Specifically, the authentication method the server used to verify your user name and password may not match the authentication method configured in your connection profile.

The problem only happens when the VPN initiates the login and the Login Dialog Box fails to open for prompting the username and password. I am not a programmer but it is safe to say the problem seems to stem from the Login Dialog Box not getting the proper permissions and/or parameters necessary to pop up securely in order to authenticate the user. NPS controls the access restrictions through group policy. The group policy states that only users in a certain security group can connect to VPN.
